Cartoons and violence
This blog has been neglected for a while only to be reawakened, yet again, by the ongoing clash between cultures. By now we have all heard about the cartoons published in a Danish newspaper depicing Mohamed in inappropriate ways to the Muslim world. Any thoughts, comments, reactions?

I am definitely someone who values freedom of expression, speech, and press, but I also feel that with those freedoms comes responsibility. What the Danish newspaper published was thoughtless, disrepectful, reckless, and irresponsible. It makes me very sad the the entire country will suffer from this one person's actions. I also agree with one comment I read which said that although these pictures give a negative view of Muslims and the Arab world, the possible reactions of Muslims and Arabs a much more negative view.
Which is the biggest disrespect to Islam?
A. A suicide bomber killing innocent muslims at a wedding n a Jordanian hotel in the name of Islam
B. An independent newspaper (who has apologized) wrongfully portraying the prophet of Islam.
To Mr or Ms anonymous who asked about the biggest disrespectful to Islam!
Talking about suicide boomers in Jordon, since this has happened in Jordon and you said those who were killed were Muslims, it might be a good idea to leave it to Muslims to discuss it. Keep your nose out of it. Here is a tip for you and for those who think like you, such a method of thinking, your way of thinking, is one of the most affective ways to get Muslims angry. Do you know why? Because it indicates that you just know nothing, can’t link anything and desperately trying to involve yourself in situation to create more problems.
The newspaper has NOT apologized about the shameful action it did. It apologized for hearting Muslims not for publishing the cartoons.
My racist brother. Why did you assume I wasn't muslim? Is it because I investigate the truth? Is it because I challenge all of you to look at yourselves and your convictions? Why should this discussion stay within muslims? Is this what our prophet wishes for people who disrespect them: DEATH?
As a matter of fact, I AM more muslim than you are, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Haven't seen any Muslim or Islamic party "investigate the truth? Is it because I challenge all of you to look at yourselves and your convictions"
this way!! What we should investigate (millions of Muslims demonstrating in the streets all over the world) and challenge is you as threat to our believes that we learned and grow up with.
I'm not and will not be ashamed of myself! I believe what was published is disrespectful and an apology should be make before any sort of communication between the east and the west.
Dear anonymious brothers...
Did you ask yourself why does this happen to us? Did you ask yourself why you both Muslim didn't even know that you are Muslim?
I think all Muslim should start educate themselves our Prophet teaching and way of being before judging anyone or thing else!
I think that we have only one good thing in our world especially our Arab world: We have our religion!
The western world does have so many good things, they could be concidered better then Arab but not Muslim. And that's why the west is attacking Islam or maybe not attacking but refusing it. But they're doing it in a clean and nice way. They know that with Islam Arab can change the World, unfortunatly we got into the trap like ....
So please think about it and respect all points of views.
the one thing that bothers me most about this conversation is your fear to disclose who you are.
Says a lot about how comfortable you are with your views.
And it's partly not your fault that you are raised to think that having a different opinion is not good when it comes ti religion.
Superluli,
I'm the anonymious who wrote the last comment.
I wouldlike to be anonymious because some people doesn't like my point of view regarding the west.
In order to be save from all wrong judgements I prefer to hide my name.
And I'm really sorry about that!
Names, religions, and races are unimportant in this issue. I am a new coming to this discussion and all i have to say is that people are people whereever you go. We cannot move forward as the human race if we argue about what is the bigger offense. We must forget we are Islamic or Christian or any other religion . We must forget if we are Western or Eastern. We must work together to resolve these issues and enlgiht the ignorant. Shalom, Salaam, Peace
I would like to remind certain people where they are, this is a HOUSE OF PEACE, this is a webpage of a program dedicated to break down barriers between people, and there is no room for hateful and narrow-minded comments here, from neither point of view nor perspectives. I challenge you all to open you minds, have healthy discussions, respect each other, listen to one another, not make empty threats, gather as human beings and resolve issues that affect us equally. If you are unwilling to do that, please respect yourself, DO NOT associate yourself with this domain.
My name is Claude Clodomir, and I am a coordinator for this program.
My Christian Syrian family lived with Muslems in peace for centuries. I respect and understand their point of view. I have read the Koran and gained a bit of understanding. Now this whole affair with a stupid cartoon! I wish my muslem brothers and sisters would not leave themselves so open to insult. Perhaps a dialog amoung Muslems could be started to determine a more dignified approach to responding to such slights as these.
Wow, very rough conversations, and harsh comments there.
We are each entitled of our own views and ideas, after all, we were raised differently and have varied thoughts. We are all Muslims but we all have different morals and personalities (That’s what I mean)
Though I am with Freedom in speech, it does come with limits and restrictions. Ok fine, talk about religion, learn it, and tell us what you think of it. Just don't go trashing it. Respect is very important to Islam and I believe that it is too to other Faiths and Beliefs.
I say no to the offensive cartoons. I’ve seen them and I was very disappointed.
